Calvin Oftana has agreed to a three-year contract extension with TNT.

Oftana’s new contract, which was acquired from NLEX in a trade last month, will begin when his present one expires at the end of the year.

Terms were not made public.

Oftana was selected by NLEX with the third overall pick in the rookie draft from the previous year, behind Joshua Munzon and Jamie Malonzo, and before eventual Rookie of the Year Mikey Williams.

Import switch for SMB

Before making its Commissioner’s Cup debut, San Miguel Beer switched to an import.

The Beermen call up Diamond Stone, who has represented Meralco in an international competition, replacing Thomas Robinson, who has been placed on the injured/reserve list.

Stone will take the field as San Miguel battles Blackwater.

After spending one season in the NCAA with Maryland, Stone was selected by New Orleans with the 40th overall pick in the NBA Draft in 2016. During the 2016–2017 season, Stone played for the Los Angeles Clippers.

TNT’s initial cast

Poy Erram will serve a suspension, numerous others will miss the opening game of TNT versus Magnolia due to injuries, and two players are questionable.

Erram is eliminated after hitting San Miguel’s Mo Tautuaa in Game Seven of the championship series, resulting in a second Flagrant Foul penalty 2 that required the Fil-Tongan to have six stitches to close.

Ryan Reyes’ dislocated shoulder, Glenn Khobuntin’s torn MCL, Raul Soyud’s strained calf, and Brian Heruela’s arthroscopic procedure are all still recovering.

Mikey Williams arrived in the nation but, according to reports, has still not fully recovered from an ankle strain he suffered during the Philippine Cup Finals match versus San Miguel.

During the championships, Jayson Castro also had an ankle injury, forcing him to miss Game 6.
