With a dominant effort on Friday, NorthPort secured its fourth consecutive victory in the PBA 48th Philippine Cup, extending their unexpected run. The squad has benefited from its run-and-gun style of play by utilizing its young lineup, regularly finishing first in points scored and fastbreak points.

With its most recent victory, a 112-96 victory over the TNT Tropang Giga, the squad reached 100 points for the third time in a row and increased its average to 107.6 points per game. NorthPort’s average in the game was 23.4, which was slightly lower than Rain or Shine’s league-best 25.2 average, thanks to its 16 fastbreak points.

NorthPort is better at run-and-gun games.

Thirteen players on the NorthPort roster, including Arvin Tolentino, who is having a fantastic conference and averaging a second-best 24 points per game, are under 30 years old. In addition, NorthPort’s running game makes up for the absence of a real big man. At 6-foot-7, Ben Adamos is the tallest player on the club; JM Calma and newcomer Zav Lucero are both 6-foot-6.

Even the more seasoned players, like Paolo Taha, Paul Zamar, and team captain Jeff Chan, are keeping up with the younger players. Chan missed the game on Friday because of a small calf strain. Tan asserts that NorthPort must lower its turnover rate.

Tan asserted that there is still much room for improvement. NorthPort has to reduce its turnover rate, since it leads the league with an average of 18 per game.

On the other hand, Arvin Tolentino, a quick fire, scores 29 in TNT’s NorthPort game.

He led NorthPort to a dominating 112-96 victory against TNT on Friday in the PBA 48th Season Philippine Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum, scoring 29 points to help his team extend its winning run to four games. With 22 points in the first half, Tolentino gave the Batang Pier momentum and established a sizable advantage that the Tropang Giga were unable to overturn. With a 4-1 record, NorthPort is still among the league’s hottest teams.

The Batang Pier were so dominant against a typical league powerhouse that they even held a 32-point lead.

In a losing effort, RR Pogoy scored 34 points, and TNT lost for the second time in a row, falling to 2-3.

After being absent for 26 days, the Batang Pier exhibited no indications of rust. They haven’t played since defeating Meralco 90-85 on March 10.

Along with Joshua Munzon’s 14 points, JM Calma contributed 22 points and 13 rebounds for NorthPort, who also had help from the Batang Pier.

By the end of the first quarter, the Batang Pier had defeated the Tropang Giga, 32–18. In the end, they took a 66-34 lead in the fourth quarter and won the conference’s largest game.
