Three days after TNT’s appearance in the 2023 FIBA 33 World Tour Macau Masters last weekend, Almond Vosotros put on a suit.

It was not, however, for the Triple Giga in PBA 33. Instead, he was participating in the PBA on Tour for the Tropang Giga.

The Rookie Draft’s 13th overall pick acknowledged that he had to make quick adjustments while playing Rain or Shine. After all, for the previous three years, the 5-foot-10 sharpshooter had been using a smaller ball and playing in the half-court.

After a few of their players became ill with the flu, temporary head coach Sandy Arespacochaga called up Vosotros, along with TNT 33 teammates Ping Exciminiano, Gryann Mendoza, and Lervin Flores, to join the Tropang Giga.

Vosotros only made one of seven field goal attempts in the first half, demonstrating his shortage of practice in a 5-on-5 situation.

In the second half, Vosotros was able to pick it up and finally made three of his subsequent six shots, notably back-to-back treys to open the final period.

Despite Vosotros’ final performance of 11 points and three assists, TNT was defeated by ROS 106-100.

Vosotros is appreciative of the chance to play in the entire court once more, though.

While attempting to secure a second entry into the FIBA 33 circuit, Vosotros and the other members of the Triple Giga are now in the middle of the season. After all, they must amass as many points for the nation as the November Olympic cutoff.

Nevertheless, Vosotros emphasizes that they are only a phone call away if TNT’s 5-on-5 squad needs their assistance.

Whereas, in the 2023 PBA on Tour on Wednesday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig, Rain or Shine defeated TNT 106-100 thanks to crucial contributions from Anton Asistio and Santi Santillan.

Asistio scored on back-to-back baskets to give Rain or Shine the lead with the score tied at 98 apiece.

With 37 seconds left to play, Santillan hit the game-winning three-pointer to give the Elasto Painters a 105-100 lead following a basket by Dave Marcelo.

Gian Mamuyac scored the most for Rain Or Shine with 21 points, adding 10 rebounds in the process.

Early in the fourth quarter, the Tropang Giga were in the lead, but with 3:38 left, the Elasto Painters went on a 9-2 run to turn the game in their favor, 96-94.

For TNT, Glenn Khobuntin excelled on both ends of the court, finishing with a double-double of 24 points and 15 rebounds in addition to three steals.

Carl Cruz and Kib Montalbo each scored 12 points, and Jaydee Tungcab added 16 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

At 7:30 p.m. on July 21, TNT will play Ginebra in an effort to record their first victory, in the same Pasig location. Ignacio, Jose Gabriel.
