Terrafirma is in the PBA playoffs for the first time in eight years.

In their sudden-death match, the Dyip defeated the Northport Batang Pier 104-96 to secure the final quarter final spot in the Philippine Cup on Wednesday night.

With 4:02 left in the game, Juan Gomez De Liano’s 10-point scoring spurt converted a 4-point deficit into a 95-88 advantage, and Juami Tiongson scored 18 of his game-high 30 points in the first half. From that point on, the Dyip never looked back.

Terrafirma will now play San Miguel, the number one seed in the playoffs, with the Beermen having a twice-to-beat advantage because they only lost once during the elimination round.

Still, the Dyip will cherish the occasion because it was their first time participating in the playoffs since winning the Governors’ Cup in 2016 and their first under current head Coach Johnedel Cardel.

With nine minutes remaining and a seven-point lead, Northport was still up 86-82, but Terrafirma’s clutch run sealed the victory for the bitter losing team.

Cade Flores and Zid Lucero, two rookies, led the Batang Pier with 17 and 16 points respectively, while Joshua Munzon chipped in with 15.

Leading scorer Arvin Tolentino was restricted to just 13 points on 4 of 13 field goal attempts, and he did not score in the fourth quarter. He did, however, record four assists and eight rebounds.
