Due to a partial ACL injury, JVEE Casio is anticipated to miss Blackwater’s final PBA Commissioner’s Cup games.

However, the squad is not about to let go of the seasoned guard despite his health.

Although Casio’s current contract is about to expire in April, Bossing management is actively seeking to get a new agreement for him.

On New Year’s Day, team owner Dioceldo Sy declared, “We will renew him.”

Due to his current placement on the injured/reserve list, 37-year-old Casio has missed Blackwater’s previous four games against TNT and NLEX.

His last game as a player was on Nov. 26 against Barangay Ginebra, a game the Bossing lost 90-87 despite blowing a 22-point lead.

Blackwater’s 1-8 record, which includes eight straight losses, has already eliminated them from playoff contention.

Meanwhile, Baser Amer, a seasoned guard, signed a contract extension with BLACKWATER that will go through the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

The 31-year-old Amer’s previous contract was set to expire on December 31st, but with two games remaining in the Bossing schedule, the parties decided to maintain the status quo until the end of the team’s campaign.

Amer’s representative, Danny Espiritu, stated that after Blackwater has exhausted all of its options, new talks will begin.

The San Beda University guard who has played for the Bossing the past two seasons is up for renewal, according to team owner Dioceldo Sy.

Nevertheless, injuries have plagued him during his time at Blackwater, as evidenced by the conference where he has only played in a few games because of a sore calf.

Despite appearing in just three games thus far, he averaged 3.6 points in 11.3 minutes.

He is anticipated to play in the Bossing’s final two games, which are against San Miguel and Northport. With an 8-game losing streak and a 1-8 record, Blackwater is currently out of the running for a postseason berth.

While Amer remains with Blackwater for the time being, Rashawn McCarthy, a guard for Fil-Am, is out of it.

In order to make room for rookie Archie Concepcion, he was previously placed on the Unrestricted Free Agent list with salary-cap rights. However, once his previous contract expired at the end of 2023, he was not extended.

Sy acknowledged McCarthy’s contributions to the team during the previous two seasons.

McCarthy and Amer just attended the Blackwater team’s Christmas celebration together.
