PBA: BOLICK POWERS NORTHPORT PAST TERRAFIRMA FOR 2-0

Robert Bolick flirted with a triple-double performance as the Northport Batang Pier defeated Terrafirma Dyip, 100-86, on Saturday in the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center, Antipolo. Northport grabbed a share of the lead after picking apart injury-riddled Terrafirma Dyip. Bolick netted 26 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds  as the Batang Pier got off to a 2-0 start for the first time since the 2019 Commissioner’s Cup. The team had a slim lead at the end of the first-half, 50-49. They turned it into a 72-66 edge at the end of the third frame after pumping 22 points against Terrafirma’s 17. Northport took control from there and cruised to their second win in the All-Filipino conference. Aside from Bolick, Jamie Malonzo also had a double-double as he tailed 19 points and 16 rebounds for Northport. Rookie and NCAA standout JM Calma played with his own double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. Arwind Santos had 10 points and 7 rebounds while Sumang tallied 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Sumang as well drained a trey to push the Northport advantage to double digits, 83-71, before Bolick put the nail in the coffin off a stepback triple as the Batang Pier savored their biggest lead 100-82. Juami Tiongson and Joshua Munzon had 24 points individually, Terrafirma loss.  Ed Daquioag, who was pushed out of the game after a bad fall. He appeared to have broken ankle during the third quarter but was able to finish with 5 rebounds, 4 points, and 3 assists. Northport will see action on Wednesday against Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots, while Terrafirma will try to notch their first win when they play the Phoenix Super LPG Fuelmasters on Friday.
