MANILA, Philippines – The former star for Alabam Pilipinas is at last bringing his skills to the PBA. Teams will be able to choose Caelan Tiongson officially in the next PBA Draft.
The Fil-Am forward has already sent his application for the July 14 procedures to the league office located in Libis, Quezon City.
Tiongson is scheduled to compete for Strong Group Athletics in the next Jones Cup, which is scheduled for July 13–21 in Taipei, therefore he may miss the rookie selection event itself.
Representatives for the 32-year-old are Espiritu Manotoc Basketball Management, or EMBM.
Following Evan Nelle, Ben Philips, CJ Cansino, Francis Escandor, DJ Mitchell, Calvin Payawal, CJ Catapusan, and Paul Garcia, Tiongson is the last to formally apply for the draft.
Setting the Alab ablaze. The Biola University product, who played for Chong Son Kung FU in the now-defunct Asean Basketball League (ABL) before moving his act to Alab Pilipinas, had long been waiting for a chance to play in the PBA.
The Pomona, California native chose to give up basketball just before the pandemic struck, but he returned to the sport two years later with the Taoyuan Leopards of Taiwan’s T1 League.
