The Elasto Painters improved to 3-3 after ending a two-game losing run with 21 points apiece from Mamuyac and Nieto.

Meralco’s problems persisted as it fell to 1-5 after suffering a third straight loss.

Nieto matched his PBA personal best that he set during his pro league debut, while Mamuyac’s production set a new career high.

When Mamuyac scored 15 points to give Rain or Shine a 57-50 advantage in the first half, he was already on fire. Nieto assumed control in the second half with 14 points and closed the game with five threes.

The Elasto Painters, who are playing the first of three games this week, also had a strong performance from Steve Taylor Jr., who finished with 22 points and 15 rebounds.

“Importante itong laro kasi it’s the start of a three-game week for us… It’s a big week for us. We have to get back after that slide, ‘yung dalawang talo namin,” said Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao.

Even though Johnny O’Bryant bounced back from his problems in their previous game against Phoenix, Meralco still lost. O’Bryant finished with 30 points, seven rebounds, five assists, three steals, and two blocks.

When suffering an ankle sprain, Chris Banchero was able to play again, but Aaron Black was taken to the hospital in the fourth quarter after Rey Nambatac accidentally elbowed him.
