MANILA, Philippines – Returning guard Glen Yang thinks the Bay Area Dragons are much stronger going into the 2023–24 PBA season, which gets underway on October 15 with the Commissioner’s Cup.
With the Dragons coming off a runner-up performance in this same conference last season, Yang, the sweet-shooting standout from Mount Royal in college, expressed his excitement to return.
After being bolstered alternately by foreigners Andrew Nicholson and Myles Powell, Bay Area battled Barangay Ginebra over the course of a seven-game championship series before falling short 4-3. Game Seven of the two Finals, won by Barangay Ginebra, was seen by a new PBA single-game record 54,589 people at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.

Yang recently finished a season with the Winnipeg Sea Bears of the Canadian Elite Basketball League. Yang was born in Vancouver and moved to Hong Kong when he was five years old.
The Hong Kong-based playmaker averaged 6.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game while playing with the Sea Bears.
Yang feels he still has unfinished business with the Dragons after being a crucial member of the team during their second-place finish in the PBA last season.
Yang displayed his adaptability throughout the 32 games he played for the Dragons, averaging 10.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.8 assists. Together with Kobey Lam, who will also be joining the team, he made a strong backcourt pairing.
Hayden Blankley, an Australian forward, Zhu Songwei, a Chinese sharpshooter, Duncan Reid, Ju Mingxin, a small forward from China, Liu Chuanxing, a 7-foot-5 center, and Zheng Qilong, a power forward from China are among the returning players for Bay Area’s strong lineup for the upcoming season. The Dragons hope to build on their previous achievements and leave a lasting impression in the forthcoming season with these seasoned players in their ranks.
Robert Cao of Florida College, Seva Chan of the Australian NBL1 West team Cockburn Cougars, Adili Kuerban of the Fujian Sturgeons of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), Oliver Xu, and Wang Yunzhang of the most recent team Wang Yunzhang added depth to Bay Area for the upcoming PBA season.
