Phil Handy, an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers, will exercise with Converge as part of the FiberXers’ preseason preparation for the next PBA season.

On Wednesday night, during the FiberXers’ PBA on Tour match versus TNT, Handy was clearly in the back of the bench.

Converge deputy team manager Jacob Lao and Frank Lao, one of the club’s fans, according to head coach Aldin Ayo, made it possible for the training to take place.

He is a visitor, and he will exercise with the group, Ayo stated.

Throughout his time in the NBA, most notably with the Lakers, Handy is renowned for his work with player development. As an associate coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, the Toronto Raptors in 2019, and the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020, he bagged an NBA championship.

Meanwhile, Converge defeated TNT, 109-84, on Wednesday in the PBA on Tour at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City thanks in large part to the 31 points scored by Jeo Ambohot, who made eight three-pointers on his way to the game-high.

TNT versus Converge game recap

Aldin Ayo, the FiberXers’ head coach, was back on the sidelines after skipping the match against San Miguel on Sunday thanks to Ambohot’s three-pointers, which helped the team pull away in the second half and even out their win-loss record at 3-3.

TNT lost all four of their PBA preseason games despite fielding just nine players.

Aldin Ayo, the coach of Converge, noted that Ambohot appeared energized after the delivery of his first son on June 17.
