Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser, the top overall pick, will not play in the PBA on Saturday against NorthPort because Blackwater does not want to risk injuring his newly healed fractured finger.
Update on Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser’s injuries
Coach Ariel Vanguardia said the 6-foot-7 rookie will be out for at least another week to rest and heal, which means he will miss the Bossing’s 5:15 p.m. game. The Ynares Center in Antipolo hosted a game versus the Batang Pier.
“We are taking the conservative approach,” Vanguardia said on Friday.
The season’s top overall pick fractured his middle finger while competing for Limitless App in the men’s 3×3 event at the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.
He hasn’t participated in the team’s first two games of the season, which they split 1 to 1 against defending Philippine Cup champion TNT Tropang Giga and Barangay Ginebra.
Vanguardia believes that, given Rosser’s lack of experience with the Bossing in 5-on-5 scrimmages, he should be given more time to become acquainted with the team’s system.
“We feel he needs the extra week to get in shape,” Coach Blackwater said.
After NorthPort, Blackwater won’t play again until Saturday against Terrafirma the following week.
