Terrafirma is still operating normally.

The Dyip continued to concentrate on their Philippine Cup campaign, which got off to a thrilling start on Friday night with a 95-87 victory against Phoenix at Ninoy Aquino Stadium, despite ongoing negotiations to sell the PBA franchise to Starhorse Shipping Lines.

Regardless of the outcome of the sale, life goes on for the team, according to both veteran guard Terrence Romeo and coach Raymond Tiongco.

Tiongco said, “Sabi ko stay positive lang sila. Ibigay lang nila yung best nila. Kung magpapalit man ng management, kailangan pa rin nilang maglaro kasi trabaho nila yun,” “So ok naman nanalo kami today. So positive lang ang approach namin every game.”

Romeo, like his coach, was taken aback when he and the other Dyip members learned of the ongoing negotiations to sell the team.

The 33-year-old guard, however, takes Dyip’s fate with a sense of professionalism.

Romeo, who has experience in trades, stated. ‘Ganun naman yung life ng players. Sometimes yung ibang players nga napupunta sa ibang teams,”

“Kumbaga kung magte-take over ay iba, andun kami para maglaro sa Starhorse. Pero right now nandito kami para sa Terrafirma.”

Romeo did just that against the Fuel Masters, scorching them for 17 points on 4-of-8 three-point shooting.

In the second half, the former Far Eastern University UAAP MVP scored all of his points, including 14 in the third quarter, as the Dyip defeated the Fuel Masters 30–16.

Previously, Bobby Rosales, the governor of the TERRAFIRMA team, refrained from commenting on Starhorse Shipping Lines’ offer to purchase and assume control of its PBA franchise at the conclusion of the current season.

Rosales informed a few reporters on Friday that the PBA will have the power to discuss the Dyip franchise’s fate at the Philippine Cup’s conclusion.

Terrafirma’s game on Friday was their first public appearance since it was revealed that the Dyip might be participating in their final PBA conference.

After leading by as many as 23 points in their Philippine Cup debut, Terrafirma defeated Phoenix 95-87 in their first game of what might be their final conference victory in the PBA.

The PBA board of governors must still accept Starhorse’s purchase of Terrafirma’s franchise with a two-thirds vote, but since the issue hasn’t been discussed there, there are questions about whether the sale will proceed.

If the deal goes through, Starhorse will take over Terrafirma’s basketball team’s entire operations, including all of the contracts of players like Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle, the team’s future draft rights, and even the retired Christian Standhardinger’s playing rights.
