Indeed, Calvin Abueva is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Philippine Basketball Association’s Magnolia Hotshots (PBA). He was selected second pick by the Alaska Aces in the 2012 PBA Draft.  Nicknamed “The Beast” owing to his all-around danger on both ends of the court; he completely dominated the nation’s university rankings by producing outstanding stats while playing for the San Sebastian College – Recoletos Stags in the NCAA. In the present tournament, while Magnolia coach Chito Victolero was already speaking directly with reporters following the team’s loss to San Miguel on Friday, Calvin Abueva eventually came by and publicly announced his own preparations for Sunday ‘s encounter. “Ginebra, babawi ako,” [ “Ginebra, I will recover”] Abueva remarked. Meanwhile, San Miguel currently holds off a late Magnolia comeback to earn its third consecutive victory.  Abueva struggled a bit in Friday’s defeat at the hands of San Miguel, prompting the short remark. Abueva finished with four points on 2-of-7 shooting from the field and six rebounds. He also had a few four turnovers and three fouls as Magnolia fell right to San Miguel, 87 to 81, despite his constant presence. Throughout the final quarter, Abueva staggered just off the floor after clashing knees all with a San Miguel player. He eventually returned, even though he was ineffective for Magnolia. Magnolia will therefore play a crucial encounter versus Barangay Ginebra on Father’s Day early in the season. They came into the game with a 1 to 3 record at the time. Abueva hasn’t really completely lost against all of Barangay Ginebra ever since simply transferring to Magnolia in a direct trade with Phoenix, but he’s probably played well during the two matches he’s participated in versus the Gins. Upon July 25, 2021, Abueva officially recorded 15 points and nine rebounds in Magnolia’s 89 to 79 great triumph just at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig in the Philippine Cup. He also already got 13 points and six rebounds in the Hotshots’ 117 to 94 Governors’ Cup triumph over the Gins on Christmas Day 2021. Will this current trend proceed? Let’s simply wait till Sunday to find out.
