Vanie Gandler makes an unforeseen decision and joins Cignal

MANILA, Philippines – Vanie Gandler, a 5-foot-9 outside spiker in the Premier Volleyball League, has made her choice.

Ateneo’s talented lady spiker Vanie Gandler is looking forward to the next phase of her life as she graduates from college. She shares her desire to join a prominent volleyball team like the Cignal HD Spikers with much excitement. Vanie, who is 22 years old, is prepared to start this new phase and use her abilities and commitment to help the team succeed.

She expresses her gratitude for the friendly welcome she received from the team’s players, coaching staff, and management. She is grateful for their embrace and is looking forward to showing her talents and helping the team’s effort to take Team Awesome to new heights. Vanie is resolved to put up her best effort and significantly contribute to the team’s progress toward success by embracing new beginnings and stepping outside of her comfort zone.

Just a few days ago, she went to the team’s first practice. Gandler played for Ateneo for the previous four years, leading them to the UAAP Season 81 championship.

She ranked sixth among outside spikers in her senior year with 154 points earned from 134 assaults, eight blocks, and 12 aces. The other outside spikers for Cignal are Jerrili Malabanan, Ces Molina, and Rachel Daquis.

The All-Filipino Conference saw Cignal come in sixth place.

Meanwhile, in the KOVO Draft, Gwangju selects MJ Phillips.

The Korean V-League team Gwangju selected Filipino-American middle blocker MJ Phillips with the fifth overall pick in the 2023 KOVO Asian Quota Draft on Friday.

Phillips expressed her gratitude to the Peppers for giving her an opportunity and expressed her excitement about beginning the season with her new team.

Pornpun Guedpard, a Thai superstar, was chosen as the top choice by Hwaseong IBK.

Wipawee Srithong and Megawati Pertiwi were selected by Suwon Hyundai and Daejeon KGC with the second and third picks, respectively.

Mediol Yoku of Indonesia was chosen sixth by GS Caltex Seoul, and Reina Tokoku of Japan was chosen last by Incheon Heungkuk Life.

The acclaimed middle blocker and current PVL Best Middle Blocker winner, MJ Philips, conveyed her sincere gratitude to the Peppers family for picking her. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity by saying, “Thank you so much for picking me. Thank you, Peppers family.”

MJ, who was overjoyed, revealed that this occasion is really important to her because it has been a long time ambition of hers since she was a small child. She is filled with anticipation as she waits for the season to start so she may demonstrate her abilities and help the team succeed. MJ really hopes that the team’s supporters will share her delight and look forward to the forthcoming season with her.
