MANILA, Philippines – Three-time Best Middle Blocker Risa Sato has joined Chery Tiggo Crossovers, securing a significant boost to their team. Sato’s retirement from the Creamline Cool Smashers after six incredibly successful years was confirmed Wednesday afternoon via the team’s official social media platforms. Sato is now in a strong position to help Chery Tiggo in her quest for a postseason spot in the 2024–25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference.

Sato’s acquisition is noteworthy because it occurs just a few days before the league’s post-holiday competition resumes. She will make her Crossovers debut on Tuesday at the Philsports Arena in their forthcoming game against Petro Gazz.

At five feet nine inches, Sato offers the Crossovers a plethora of expertise and talent. Her presence bolsters an already strong rotation of middle blockers that includes Aby Maraño, Pauline Gaston, Czarina Carandang, and Seth Rodriguez. Chery Tiggo, who is now in fourth place with a 4-2 record, is fighting for a postseason berth, and Sato’s arrival could be crucial to reaching that objective.

Sato’s New Chapter

Through her transition into Chery Tiggo, Sato will go on to the next chapter of her outstanding career in the PVL. In the wake of Creamline’s historic victory at the Grand Slam tournament earlier in the year, Sato submitted a request for an early release from her exclusive contract on November 8. The request that she made was approved by the Cool Smashers, which enabled her to seek other opportunities prior to the initial expiration date of her contract, which was in December.

Sato had a significant part in Creamline’s supremacy of the league during the period that she was there. Through her participation in thirteen different conferences, her ten victories, and her solidification as one of the most trustworthy and consistent middle blockers in the PVL, she established her reputation. It was largely due to her abilities that Creamline had the opportunity to become one of the most decorated teams in the league.

An Encouragement for Chery Tiggo

For Chery Tiggo, the arrival of Sato comes at a pivotal moment. Her playing time is anticipated to give the squad more depth and versatility as they contend for the playoffs. Sato, who is well-known for her swift attacks, strong blocking, and court awareness, is a perfect fit for the Crossovers as they look to establish themselves in the league.

Chery Tiggo has demonstrated promise this season under the leadership of both seasoned veterans and up-and-coming talent. Since Sato joined the squad, the Crossovers want to perform better in important games, like their upcoming matchup with Petro Gazz, which might have a big impact on their chances of making the playoffs.

Chery Tiggo Gains, Creamline Loses

Sato’s exit signifies the end of an era for Creamline fans. During her six years with the team, she helped the team create a winning culture in addition to helping them win championships. Although her absence will surely be noticed, it also highlights Creamline’s roster depth, which has helped them stay competitive even after major player changes.

Chery Tiggo fans, on the other hand, are thrilled about Sato’s arrival. The Crossovers, a team keen to establish itself in the PVL, benefit from her skill and leadership, as seen by her three-time Best Middle Blocker record and her championship experience.

Gazing Ahead

All eyes will be on Risa Sato as she gets ready to don the Chery Tiggo jersey for the first time to see how she fits in with her new team and helps them win the playoffs. Her signing is a declaration of purpose for the Crossovers, demonstrating their resolve to compete at the top level.

In the meantime, Sato sees this transfer as a chance to embrace new tasks and challenges while carrying on her legacy in the PVL. She has the ability, background, and championship pedigree to have a significant impact for the Crossovers in the remaining games of the season.

With Sato joining Chery Tiggo’s squad, fans can anticipate even more excitement as the competition heats up for the 2024–25 PVL All-Filipino Conference, which promises to be an exciting event.
