MANILA, Philippines – In the final Game 3 of the national finals, Pampanga will travel to Bacoor on the brink of history, hoping to finish with a perfect record and win the MPBL Fifth Season title on Saturday at the Cavite Strike Gym.
At seven o’clock in the evening, the North Division champion Giant Lanterns invade the Strikers’ home field. with the upper hand in the best-of-five match after winning the first two games at home in San Fernando.
After defeating Bacoor, the South Division winner, 71 to 58 in Game 1, Pampanga, who had yet to suffer a loss in their flawless playoff run, narrowly prevailed 68 to 65 in Game 2.
The Kapampangans are under intense pressure to deliver the decisive blow to the Strikers on their home ground and win their first MPBL national title with a convincing sweep, even though they are riding high after two straight victories at home. The team will not give up easily this time around.
The task of leading Pampanga on their journey to MPBL glory falls to Most Valuable Player Justine Baltazar and Mythical Second Team member Archie Conception.
With 13 points apiece, Baltazar and Concepcion led the Giant Lantern to victory in Game 2, and other double-double aces like Michael John Garcia, Kurt Reyson, Allen Liwag, John Lloyd Clemente, and Encho Serrano promise to put on huge performances to win it all.
The Mythical First Team member JM Nemal, who is also the Most Improved Player, and James Kwekuteye of the Mythical Second Team, along with veterans Mark Yee, Yvan Ludovice, and Jhaymo Eguilos, stand in the way of the Strikers’ attempts to force Game 4, which is still scheduled to take place in Bacoor.
