Jeo Ambohot is getting another opportunity to make his mark in the PBA after securing a spot with the TNT Tropang 5G for the remainder of the season.

The former third overall pick has joined TNT following a stint as a free agent, giving the big man another chance to establish himself after experiencing several changes in his professional career.

Ambohot had been training with TNT before the team decided to bring him into the fold. His addition provides the Tropang 5G with another tall and versatile option as they prepare for the crucial stretch of the PBA Governors’ Cup.

At 6-foot-7, Ambohot can provide size in the frontcourt while also possessing the ability to step outside and shoot from distance. That combination has been one of the qualities that made him an intriguing prospect when he entered the league.

His latest move comes shortly after Titan Ultra parted ways with him earlier in September. Ambohot was among three players released by the franchise, alongside Jerrick Balanza and Damie Cuntapay.

The move opened the door for Ambohot to explore other opportunities, eventually leading him to TNT.

His time with Titan Ultra was relatively short. He had been acquired during a three-team transaction involving NorthPort, Converge and Phoenix in 2025, a deal that sent several players to new teams as the franchises reshaped their respective lineups.

Before that, Ambohot spent the early portion of his professional career with Converge, the team that selected him third overall in the 2022 PBA Rookie Draft.

The selection carried added significance because Ambohot became the first player ever drafted by the newly established Converge franchise. Coming out of Colegio de San Juan de Letran, he was viewed as one of the more promising big men available in that draft class.

Ambohot had built a strong résumé during his collegiate career.

As a member of the Letran Knights, he played an important role in the team’s championship success and was part of back-to-back NCAA title-winning squads. His performances earned him individual recognition, including a Finals MVP award during Letran’s championship campaign.

He also received selections to the NCAA Mythical Five and Best Defensive Team, highlighting his contributions on both ends of the court.

The transition to the professional ranks, however, proved more challenging.

Ambohot spent much of his time competing for opportunities in a crowded Converge frontcourt. While he showed flashes of the offensive ability that made him a highly regarded collegiate player, consistent playing time was difficult to secure.

One of his most memorable performances came during the 2023 PBA On Tour.

Facing TNT, Ambohot erupted for 31 points and knocked down eight three-pointers in an impressive offensive display. The performance demonstrated that despite his size, he could serve as a floor-spacing threat and punish defenses from beyond the arc.

That shooting ability could become particularly useful for TNT as the team continues to manage its roster during the Governors’ Cup.

The Tropang 5G are entering an important portion of the conference, with the postseason race beginning to take shape. Adding another player capable of contributing size and perimeter shooting gives the coaching staff another option when building different combinations on the floor.

Ambohot’s signing also gives him a chance to reset his career.

Since entering the PBA, he has moved from being a highly touted rookie with Converge to playing for NorthPort and eventually Titan Ultra. His latest destination gives him an opportunity to work within a different system and compete alongside an established group of players.

For Ambohot, the immediate challenge will be earning the trust of the coaching staff and making the most of whatever minutes become available.

The PBA season can be unforgiving for players fighting to establish themselves. Opportunities can disappear quickly, particularly when teams have deep rotations and multiple options at each position.

Ambohot now has another opportunity in front of him.

His signing with TNT does not guarantee a major role, but it gives the former Letran standout another platform to show what he can contribute.

With the remainder of the Governors’ Cup ahead, Ambohot will be looking to turn his latest move into more than just another stop in his career.

For a player who entered the PBA as a highly regarded third overall selection, the TNT chapter could provide another opportunity to remind the league why he was once considered one of the country’s promising young big men.
