Converge is making another change to its import rotation as it searches for a way out of its recent tailspin, bringing back veteran reinforcement Cameron Clark for its important showdown with the Terrafirma Dyip.

Clark is expected to make his return for the FiberXers as they attempt to halt a four-game losing skid and regain momentum in the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup.

The decision comes at a critical juncture for Converge, which finds itself locked in a tight race for a place in the quarterfinals. The FiberXers currently carry a 3-4 record, the same mark as Terrafirma, making their latest encounter particularly significant in the standings.

Clark takes over the import duties from Jamaal Franklin, who recently joined Converge in hopes of providing an offensive lift.

Franklin delivered respectable production during his brief stint, putting up 27.3 points, eight rebounds, three assists and 1.7 steals per game across three appearances. Despite those numbers, however, Converge failed to secure a win during his time with the squad.

The FiberXers are now hoping Clark can provide the stability and experience needed to change that trend.

This will not be Clark’s first experience in the PBA. The American forward has previously suited up for NLEX in the 2022 Governors’ Cup and San Miguel Beer during the 2023 edition of the tournament. He also played for Eastern in the 2024-25 Commissioner’s Cup.

That previous exposure to Philippine basketball should allow Clark to settle into his role more quickly, an important factor for Converge given the urgency surrounding the team.

The FiberXers have already made several adjustments at the import position during the conference. Clark earlier replaced Jalen Hudson before giving way to Franklin, making his latest activation another chapter in Converge’s search for the right foreign reinforcement.

Now, the organization is banking on his familiarity with the league and ability to contribute immediately.

Converge’s matchup with Terrafirma is also significant because of how their previous meeting unfolded.

The FiberXers escaped with a 105-103 victory when the teams first met in the conference. Although Converge appeared to have control for much of the contest, the Dyip rallied late and nearly stole the game.

Justin Arana was instrumental in that win, finishing with 31 points and 10 rebounds. Juan Gomez de Liaño contributed 19 points, while Justine Baltazar added 16 points and 14 boards.

The narrow result demonstrated that the Dyip have the ability to challenge Converge, particularly when the FiberXers lose their rhythm or allow their opponents to build confidence.

Terrafirma has since added another impressive result to its campaign, defeating NLEX, 114-109, last Friday. The victory gave the Dyip another boost and showed that they remain a dangerous opponent despite their position in the standings.

Converge, meanwhile, cannot afford to extend its current slump.

Four consecutive defeats have put additional pressure on the FiberXers, who had entered the conference hoping to establish themselves as one of the teams capable of making a deep playoff run.

The arrival of Clark gives head coach Franco Atienza another weapon to work with, but his presence alone will not solve all of Converge’s problems.

The FiberXers will need better execution from their local players, improved defensive discipline and stronger composure during crucial stretches. Their recent defeats have highlighted the importance of sustaining their effort for the entire 48 minutes.

For Clark, the immediate objective is straightforward: help Converge win.

His ability to score from different areas of the floor, rebound effectively and create opportunities for his teammates could give the FiberXers another dimension on offense. More importantly, his experience playing in high-pressure PBA games could help the team handle the demands of a tight playoff race.

With both clubs sitting at 3-4, the rematch carries more weight than an ordinary elimination-round game.

A victory would allow Converge to move closer to the upper half of the group and potentially restore confidence after a difficult stretch. Another loss, however, would further complicate its path toward the quarterfinals.

That makes Clark’s return especially timely.

The veteran import now has an opportunity to immediately make his presence felt and help a struggling Converge squad rediscover its winning formula.

The FiberXers already know what Terrafirma can do after narrowly surviving their first meeting. This time, they will be looking for a more complete performance — and hoping Clark can provide the spark that finally brings their losing streak to an end.
